4-Way Articulating Borescope Series – Precision in Every Direction

When 2-way isn't enough. Ralcam 4-way articulating borescopes steer the tip up, down, left, and right independently — a full 360° sweep that gets you around corners and back along surfaces a fixed or 2-way scope can only pass by.

Full 360° Tip Control

The difference shows up on the jobs where you cannot reposition the probe. Once the tip is deep in a combustion chamber, a turbine casing, or a compound pipe bend, pulling it back out to try a different angle costs you the access you just worked for. Four-way steering lets you sweep the entire field from where you already are — look back along a valve face, follow a weld seam around a bore, check the underside of an obstruction.

Sizing and control

Camera diameters run 3.9 mm, 6.2 mm, and 8.5 mm; 3.9 mm reaches modern spark plug wells that a standard probe will not enter. Cables come in 1 m, 2 m, and 3 m, with custom lengths available. Control is by joystick or rocker, operated one-handed while the other hand feeds the cable.

Where 4-way pays for itself

Turbine and blade inspection in aviation MRO, GDI valve and piston work where a systematic sweep beats a lucky angle, weld and crack detection in NDT, and any inspection that has to be documented rather than just glanced at.

Choosing the Right Borescope

What does 4-way / 360° articulation mean and why does it matter?

4-way articulation means the tip steers up, down, left and right from a thumb joystick, giving full 360° directional control. You can look around corners, valves and cylinder walls without repositioning the whole probe — essential for complex assemblies a fixed or 2-way scope can't reach.

How is a joystick borescope different from a 2-way lever?

A 2-way lever bends the tip in a single plane; you rotate the whole probe to cover other angles. A 4-way joystick moves the tip in any direction directly, so you steer intuitively and hold precise angles — faster and more accurate in tight, winding spaces.

Which Ralcam 4-way model should I choose?

The F606B (built-in screen) and F606A (phone-connected) are the core 4-way scopes; the M6X adds a larger 5-inch IPS screen, and the M608U adds UV for crack and weld-defect detection. Choose by screen preference and whether you need UV inspection.

FAQ

What is a borescope and what is it used for?

A borescope is an inspection camera designed to access hard-to-reach areas. It is widely used for automotive diagnostics, pipe inspection, HVAC maintenance, and industrial applications.

How do I choose the right borescope?

Choosing the right borescope depends on your needs. Key factors include probe diameter, cable length, articulation (2-way or 4-way), and whether you need a standalone screen or smartphone connection.

What industries are your inspection cameras suitable for?

Our borescopes are used across multiple industries, including:

  • Automotive repair
  • Plumbing and drainage
  • HVAC inspection
  • Construction and maintenance
  • Industrial equipment inspection
How long does the battery last?

Battery life depends on the model, but most standalone borescopes provide 3–5 hours of continuous use on a full charge.

Which borescope is best for beginners?

For beginners, we recommend starting with a model that has a built-in screen and simple controls. These models do not require additional setup and are easier to operate.
